About CareZelo
About CareZelo and our source policy
What we publish
CareZelo is a news service for Manitoba’s frontline care workers, with jobs and career pathways alongside. Manitoba is the launch region; every record carries a province code so coverage can expand without mixing local requirements.
How news briefs are made
Several times a day CareZelo checks the public RSS feeds of the Province of Manitoba, Shared Health, Manitoba’s five regional health authorities, Manitoba’s nursing and paramedic regulators, Red River College Polytechnic, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada’s recalls and alerts, the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, and Canadian news and health-technology outlets. Where a site’s robots.txt allows it, the article is read so the summary reflects the whole story. Only a short summary in our own words is shown, never the article itself. Sites that block automated access, and content behind paywalls, are not used.
An AI model (Google Gemini) writes a short summary in its own words, a one-line note on why it matters for frontline care workers, and a topic: health policy, care services and workforce, public health updates, training and credentials, or medical technology and trends. Manitoba news comes first; national stories are included only when they are especially useful to care workers here, and international stories are left out. Briefs are published automatically, without a person checking each one first, and the news pages say so.
The same model labels each brief as news, opinion, research, a recall or an announcement; flags recalls, outbreaks and urgent advisories; notes any deadline or effective date the source states (these feed the deadlines page); and recognizes when several outlets report the same story, so it appears once with every source listed. Summaries are also machine-translated into Filipino, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese and French. The weekly roundup is assembled by the same model from published briefs only.
Every brief links to its original source. Headlines are the source’s own. If a summary and its source disagree, the source is right.
Jobs
Job listings come only from Manitoba employers’ own career sites and link to the original posting. Wages and closing dates are shown when the employer states them; otherwise the listing says to check the posting. Listings drop off when they disappear from the employer’s site.
What we do not do
We do not mass scrape and rewrite articles, copy full job descriptions, fabricate listings, or promise eligibility for a regulated profession. Job Bank automation is disabled because its published terms prohibit automated access.
Corrections
Every item retains its source. Anyone can use “Report an error” on a brief. Confirmed problems are corrected or the brief is removed, and every correction is listed on the corrections page. Publishers who would like their items excluded can ask and we will remove them.
